AGL's climate pollution is TOO BIG TO HIDE

AGL is Australia’s biggest climate polluter. Instead of taking real action on climate change, AGL is trying to hide their highly polluting coal burning power stations behind a new company Accel.
It’s a dodgy corporate accounting trick that means AGL could pretend to be ‘green’ while still burning coal until 2045, well beyond the deadline scientists agree we must stop burning coal to avoid the most devastating impacts of climate change.

AGL's dodgy demerger - and why we need to put a stop to it.

AGL is Australia's biggest climate polluter.
83% of their electricity comes from coal, and they emit more carbon pollution than all of New Zealand!

AGL is trying to hide their dirty coal burning power stations behind a new company Accel, tricking its customers and the Australian public into thinking it's more green than it is.

If the demerger goes ahead, AGL will be able to claim to be 'carbon neutral' when they're not. All of their carbon emissions would belong to Accel, not AGL.

The problem is, AGL will still be buying most of their electricity from Accel which means it's coming from the EXACT SAME coal burning power stations. It's just a dodgy corporate accounting trick.

This allows AGL to keep profiting off dirty coal power while maintaining their phoney 'clean and green' image. And it's going to have a devastating impact on our environment.

The only way AGL will ever legitimately be able to claim to be green and carbon neutral is if it closes its coal burning power stations by 2030, and switches to clean, green, renewable energy.
